WESTPORT…John J. Carvalho, 92, of Westport, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at home. He was the husband of the late Georgianna (Silvia) Carvalho and the son of the late Antone and Mary (Almeida) Carvalho.
Born in Westport he was the owner and operator of Carvalho’s Dairy Farm in Westport until his retirement. Mr. Carvalho was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport. He enjoyed growing Macomber turnips but his greatest passion in life was being a dairy farmer.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Nancy Jean Briand and her husband Homer of Westport and Margaret Silvia and her husband Francisco of Westport; 5 grandchildren: Michael F. Silvia, Noelle J. Briand, Holly Kelley, John Jay Silvia and Chris Marie Corrow; 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was grandfather of the late Heidi Briand and brother of the late Manuel, Antone and Joseph Carvalho, Mary Carvalho, Viola Carvalho and Adeline Mendillo.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 8:00 A.M. from the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
Calling hours will be Wednesday 5-8 P.M.
