Cornelius F. “Fran” Crowley, 91 of W. Bridgewater died on Christmas Day December 25, 2009 at the hospice in the VA Hospital in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was born in Brockton and raised in W. Bridgewater. He was the son of the late Daniel and Delia (Duggan) Crowley. He graduated from Howard High School in 1937. During WW II he entered specialized Pilot training and served as an Aviation Cadet in the Army Air Corp from Aug. 5, 1942 to April 28, 1943. He entered the army Air Corp from April 28, 1943 to April 1946. He was commissioned a Captain in the air force and received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
He flew many types of aircraft. Upon his discharge he established and was the owner of Crowley Construction Company in West Bridgewater. His hobbies were golfing, traveling, bowling and flying. He would hop on a plane and fly to a number of his favorite golf courses.
He is survived by two sisters Mary Bulman of Brockton and Rita Petronelli of North Easton and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Daniel T. Crowley, Elizabeth Newberg and Edward J. Crowley.
A visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday from 9:30am to 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church, W. Bridgewater at 11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
