Henry Branton
Henry Branton, 81, of Summerville, beloved husband of Gertrude Branton died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Summerville Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 2 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville.
A private burial will be held at Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville.
Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o’clock Sunday evening.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Crossroads Community Church, Benevolence Fund, 505 Gahagan Road, Summerville, SC 29485.
Mr. Branton was born May 12, 1928 in Dorchester County, son of the late Daniel Joe Branton and Lilly Maggie Harley Branton. He attended school in Dorchester County. He was a United States Merchant Marine serving from 1943 until 1950. He was a generous, hard-working sawmill man. Mr. Branton was President of Ashley River Lumber Company for over forty years. He was a member of Old Fort Baptist Church.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Gertrude and 2 sons: Joe Henry Branton, Sr. (Lynn) of Summerville and Robert David Branton (Jean) of Summerville. 5 grandchildren: Scott Branton, Joe Branton Jr., Kimberly Bentintendo, Amy Williams, Andrew Branton and 3 great grandchildren: Dylan, Maya and Laila, all of Summerville. 1 brother and 2 sisters: Johnnie Robert Branton, Nelly B. Nicholson and Prudence B. Cook all of Summerville.
