Alfred L."Fred" Guerin, 94, of Salem, NH died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at his home in the company his loving wife of 62 years and his four children. He was born on August 1, 1915 to Philip and Marie Louise (LaFleur) Guerin in Lawrence, MA. He attended local schools
>and graduated from Lowell Technical Institute where he developed his passion for fixing everything, skills for which life gave him many opportunities. He was a Motor Machinist Mate, First Class in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He served on the USS Argo, escorting convoys along the Eastern seaboard.

>He married Evelyn L. Landry in 1947 and soon thereafter moved to Salem NH where he lived the rest of his life in the home he lovingly built for his family. Fred worked many years in the building trades profession and was a skilled master carpenter and a cabinetmaker of considerable ability. He retired in 1977 to spend more time with his family and grandchildren. Fred was an avid reader with a keen interest in life and enjoyed lively discussions on all topics, especially those that could spark a good conversation. All who knew him will agree that he was a great story-teller, had a marvelous sense of humor and was truly "one of a kind."

>Lorraine St. John and her husband Edward of Lawrence, MA. He also leaves grandchildren Jennifer Hoyt, Kimberly Bradley, Matthew Guerin, Amanda Guerin, Daniel Gibson, Gabrielle Gibson, Jillian Whelan, Jenna Whelan and Maeve Whelan; and great grandchildren Zachary Hoyt, Corinne Bradley, and Paige Bradley, all of whom were the apple of his eye. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
> Calling hours were Sunday December 27, 2009 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Saint Matthew Parish, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH. Burial followed at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
