David J. Day, 67, of Providence, RI formerly of Coventry and Attleboro passed away peacefully on Thursday December 24, 2009 at the Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island in Providence. He was the beloved husband for past 34 years of Phyllis A. (Rezendes) Day.
Born in North Attleboro, MA on October 8, 1942 he was a son of the late George Day and Muriel (Skinner) Bodge.
An Attleboro native, David was brought up and educated in Attleboro and was a graduate of the former Attleboro Tech High School where he learned the trade of auto body repair.
Mr. Day had worked for 22 years at Boston Scientific in Quincy and also when the company was located Mansfield, as a Facilities Technician.
David was an avid NASCAR fan, his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and was a loyal New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed collecting toy cars, spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.
David loved and looked forward to trips taken to his favorite state of Virginia. He had a special fondness for cats and when younger his family had attended the Second Congregational Church in Attleboro. He made his home in Providence for the past 14 years and was formerly of Coventry and Attleboro.
In addition to his beloved wife Phyllis, he is survived by his devoted children Alan Day of Pennsylvania, Michael Day of Cumberland, RI, Kevin Day of South Attleboro, Michelle Miller of Attleboro, Earle Miller of Middleboro and Scott Miller of Virginia. He was the brother of Joanne Pardey and Jean Hastie both of Attleboro and is also survived by his cherished 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, his mother in law Marion Rezendes of Virginia as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday January 2, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Candleberry Chapel 381 South Main St. Attleboro. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers David’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American Diabetes Association 330 Congress St. Boston, MA 02210.
