Chester Garfield Montana, age 90, of Duxbury, died suddenly on Sunday December 20, 2009 after a short illness. Chester was born in Framingham, and raised and educated in Framingham Schools. He lived in Framingham for 84 years. He then moved to Duxbury Village where he has lived for the past 6 years. He was a WWII Veteran and was awarded both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He retired from Natick Paperboard where he worked as a Stationery Engineer for 35 years, and then worked for the Whipple Company of Natick for an additional 15 years.
Chester was the beloved husband of the late Mary C. (Orr) Montana and the devoted father of Ruth M. Vallee of Duxbury, Claire M. Weslowski of Peru, NY, and Linda M. Fox of Marietta, GA, and their husbands. He was the son of the late Charles and Maria Montana of Framingham, and the brother of Doris Polley of Nashua, NH, Robert Montana of Dallas, TX, and the late Kenneth Montana of Sunapee, NH, and Hazel Enright of Calabash, NC. Chester has 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (rt. 106) kingston, on Sunday, December 27th at 4:00PM. The family will be receiving visitors from 3-4:00PM the same day. Rev. Karen Gutowski, Chester's niece, will be officiating the service. Internment will be at the Edwards cemetery in Saxonville at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: The American Cancer Society, P.O.
