Mabel Phillips Hood, 86, of Fitzgerald, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Wray Holiness Baptist Church with Bro. Edsel Young, Bro. Steve Willingham and Bro. Jimmy Sayer officiating. Interment will follow in Wray Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Hood was born October 27, 1923 in Coffee County to the late James M. and Ava Harper Phillips. She lived in Ben Hill County most of her life and was a former employee of Fitzgerald Underwear and Holt’s Bakery. Mrs. Hood was an active member of Wray Holiness Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved gardening and helping others.
Mrs. Hood is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, LaGail & Gene Daniel of Roland, OK; grandson, Chris and his wife, Becky Costa; granddaughter, Crystal Hood, grandson Randall Morgan and five great grandchildren; sister, Johnnie P. Royal of Ambrose as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim D. Hood, son, Robin W. Hood, two sisters, Evie Vickers and Lucy Cauley; seven brothers, Jesse Phillips, D.B. Phillips, Luther Phillips, Quincey Phillips, Dewitte Phillips, Nead Cauley and Claude Cauley.
