Timothy J. McCarthy Jr., a 26 year resident of Stoneham and formerly of Arlington, died suddenly on Monday December 21, 2009 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. He was 79 years old.
Tim was born in Somerville on June 3, 1930 to Timothy J. and Dorothy F. (Brown) McCarthy. He grew up in Medford where he attended Medford Public Schools and graduated from Medford High School. Tim enlisted into the United States Air Force on March 20, 1950 and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on March 19, 1954 with the rank of Airman First Class. Tim worked for Polaroid Corporation as a Lab Technician in the Research & Development Department for more than 24 years and retired in 1993.
Tim is the beloved and loving husband of 52 years to Elizabeth A. (Conlon) McCarhty. He is the devoted father of Deborah Doherty and her husband Sean of Stoneham, Timothy J. McCarthy and his wife Christine of Melrose, Teresa Corrigan and her husband William of Wakefield and John "Mike" McCarthy and his wife Janet of Woburn. He is the loving Grampy to Meaghan Corrigan, Elizabeth McCarthy, Mary McCarthy and the late Paige Marie Corrigan. He is the beloved brother of Dorothy Kearney of Medford and the late Phyllis Patten.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tim's Funeral on Monday December 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham. Visiting hours will be on Sunday December 27, 2009 from 2 to 6 p.m.
