Obituary


Mr. Joseph M. “Watson” Proulx, of East Taunton died Monday, December 21 in Morton Hospital following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Hilda T. (Andrade) Proulx for 55 years. He was born 86 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Aime and Octavia (Poudrier) Proulx. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a polisher for Reed and Barton Silversmiths for 42 years. Mr. Proulx was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Reed and Barton Quarter Century Club and the former Caswell Grove Senior Citizens Club. In his younger days, Mr. Proulx was a well known baseball
player, participating in the former Twilight League, as well as several other area leagues, playing for several area teams. He also enjoyed bowling in the Reed and Barton Bowling
League. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed collecting baseball cards. He loved his home village of Whittenton. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves:
1 daughter: Deborah Forrester, and her husband, Douglas W. of Brockton
1 son: Joseph M. Proulx, Jr., and his wife, Tammy of Orlando, Fla.
3 grandchildren: Megan Proulx, Douglas J. Forrester and Devon Forrester
several nieces and nephews
Mr. Proulx was also the brother of the late Rita DeNardo, Henry T. Proulx, Sr.,
Lillian Proulx, Helen Proulx, Raymond Proulx and Aime Proulx.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, December 28 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A
Visiting Hour will precede the funeral, Monday, from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M.
