Claire, D.Monfils, 81, of Old County Road died Tuesday at home. She was the wife of Raymond B. Monfils. They were married for 55 years.
Born in Smithfield,a daughter of the late Charles M. and Dora (Cote) Martineau, she was a lifelong resident of Smithfield. She was a mender for Worcester Textiles until retiring and had previously worked at Esmond Machine and tool for 20 years.
She is also survived by her children, Ann M. Costa and her husband, Joe of Smithfield, Paul R. Monfils of Coventry and David M. Monfils of Smithfield; three grandchildren, Eric Costa, Kerri Walthers and her husband, Kevin and Dreue Monfils , a great granddaughter, Charlotte Ann Walthers; a sister Doris Picard and brother Charles Martineau, both of Smithfield. She was the sister of the late Joan Martineau.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Saturday 8-9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Childrens’ Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0050.
