Mrs. Maria C. Salgado, age 85 of Cambridge died Monday in the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.
Mrs. Salgado was born and educated in Paranhos Portugal. She emigrated to the United States in 1981 at the age of 57 and settled in Cambridge. She worked cleaning homes and offices in the area. She had simple pleasures, she loved to cook and eat. Among her favorite things to do was to watch the Spanish television channels, particularly Sabado and was a big fan of Gigante. A devout catholic, she enjoyed the Portuguese Feast and the Rosary. A strong willed woman with great determination, she loved the presence of babies and youngsters. The family was all important to her. She loved family gatherings and holiday get togethers. Among her favorite things was dinner at the Olde Country Buffet. She is survived by a daughter MariaAmelia Abrantes and her husband Jose of Cambridge, three sons: Luis Henriques and his wife Maria, JoseManuel Henriques and his wife, Fernanda, of Portugal Armando Henriques and wife Helena of France.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Ave., Cambridge, Wednesday at 9:00 am. Burial will follow in Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge.
