Obituary

CURRAN, Richard J. 70, of West Roxbury, died unexpectedly on December 20th. Son of the late J. Stanley Curran and Mary L. (Riley). Brother of J Stan Curran and his wife Anne of Ashland, Dennis J. Curran and his wife Cynthia of Sleepy Hollow NY, and Patricia Curran SND of Boston. Also survived by an aunt, uncle and several nieces and nephews. Richard was a graduate of Boston Latin School and Northeastern University, Class of 1963. He received his commission as a 2d Lieutenant in the US Army, and spent his military career of over 25 years in the Signal Corps and the Ordnance Corps, with overseas assignments highlighted by tours in Turkey, Panama and Vietnam. He retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He received two awards of the Bronze Star Medal while serving two tours in Vietnam during the war. Richard was a long-time member of the American Legion, Amvets, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Wednesday, Dec. 23at 9:30am. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church at 11:30. Visiting hours prior to Mass. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Disabled American Veterans, Room 546, State House, Boston, MA 02133-1042
