Mrs. Constance R. Campanella, age 97, Medford resident for more than sixty years, passed away December 19th at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Giacomo Campanella. Born in Messina, Italy she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Nancy (Argio) Alleruzzo.
Mrs. Campanella, known as “Connie” to her family and friends was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed knitting and doing crochet work, especially making baby caps for newborns at the Malden Hospital where she volunteered for many years. Mrs. Campanella also worked as a quality inspector for the Federal Paperboard Co. formerly the Worcester Paper Box Co. in Medford and retired in 1977 following thirty years of dedicated employment. Throughout the years she loved to stay active and was a member of the Santa Maria Lodge of Medford.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Mrs. Campanella is predeceased by her sister, the late Jennie Costa. She is survived by her sons, John Campanella and his wife Shirley of Reading, Frank Campanella and his wife Phyllis of Medford, and Anthony Campanella of Medford. She is also survived by two loving grandsons, Michael Campanella of Andover and David Campanella of Medford. She is further survived by her brother Nunzio Alleruzzo of California.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford on Monday, December 28th, at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St. Malden at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 27th from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with entombment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Connie's memory to the Glen Ridge Nursing Center, Activities Fund, 120 Murray St., Medford, MA 02155
