Loring D. Maxwell, 74, of Bellingham died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Margaret M. (Lynch) Maxwell for 52 years.
Born in Somerville on January 1, 1935, the son of Blanche S. (Pitcher) Maxwell of Medway and the late Robert F. Maxwell, Mr. Maxwell was a resident of Bellingham for the past 11 years and formerly resided in Medway.
He was a graduate of Somerville High School class of 1952 and received a degree from the College of Business Administration at Northeastern University in 1957. He also earned a Master of Arts Degree in Vocational Education from Fitchburg State College.
Loring was an active member of the Medway Community Church, the Franklin Rotary Club and the Mount Hollis Masonic Lodge in Holliston. He also served in the Naval Reserve. Before his retirement, he was an accountant for many years.
In his retirement years, his avocation was genealogical research and he was a member of the New England Historical Genealogical Society.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Wendy Ballou and her husband, Richard of Northbridge and Vicki Frechette of Worcester, two sons, Steven Maxwell and his wife Nancy of Medway and Michael Maxwell and his wife Karen of Medway and two sisters, Lorraine Scott and her husband John of Alton, NH and Beverly Shields and her husband Walter of Stow.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, December 23 at 11 a.m. in the Medway Village Church, 170 Village St. in Medway. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. in Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
