Ruth Stanley Brewer, 80, of Summerville, widow of Harold Baxter Stanley and Clay Brewer, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 following an extended illness.
Graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 11 o’clock at Gardens of Memory, 5676 Old Walkertown Road, Walkertown, NC.
The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 305 Bethania Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC on Monday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
She was born on December 16, 1929 in Surry County, North Carolina, daughter of the late Willie Vestal Martin and Maggie Susan Harrison Martin. She attended schools in North Carolina. She enjoyed bowling, reading, game shows and was a big sports fanatic of Duke basketball. She worked most of her life as a cosmetologist and attended Matthew Chapel Church of Christ, Winston-Salem, NC.
Surviving are: 2 sons: Phillip Stanley and his wife Vicky of Summerville and Randy L. Stanley of Winston-Salem, NC. 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, 1 sister: Lola Childress of Mount Airy, NC. She is predeceased by her son: David Lee Stanley, Sr.
