Obituary

Taunton, Ernest Hirschy, a lifelong Taunton resident died on December 13th 2009 at Morton Hospital and Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 95 years of age. He was born in Taunton, son of the late Emile and Frances (Reiser) Hirschy. He was the loving husband of Helen (Cole) Hirschy. Mr. Hirschy retired in 1979 as a Taunton Fire Fighter, who was station at the Central Station. He was educated in Taunton schools, graduating from Taunton High School in 1933. He also attended Bristol County Agricultural High School in Berkley in gardening, and Bryant College in RI for a degree in accounting. Mr. Hirschy enjoyed gardening and was a 4H leader. He served in the Untied States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He served in WWII. He was a longtime member of the Winthrop St. Baptist Church in Taunton. He was also a member the Prudential Committee at the church. He was a member of the VFW, Taunton Garden club and the Fireman’s Relief Association. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Audrey Terry of Federal Way Washington; two sons: David Hirschy of Bridgewater and Donald Hirschy of N. Dighton. He also leaves four grandchildren and one great grandchild. At Mr. Hirschy’s request,funeral services will be announced at a later date..
