Obituary

Roland E. Dutil, Jr., 75, of Methuen died on Thursday December 10, 2009 at Lawrence General Hospital. Mr Dutil was born in Old Orchard, Maine and was raised in Lewiston, Maine. He was a graduate of St Dominic High School, Lewiston where he played football, hockey and baseball. Roland was also a graduate of Norwich University where he played hockey and later went on to play semi-pro hockey for The Barre, Vermont Black Hawks. Roland served as a captain with The US Army Reserves and had worked for The State of Vermont Department of Transportation. He was also a devoted employee for many years as a Right of Way Agent for The Federal Highway Administration. He retired in 2001. Roland was an avid sportsman. He loved fishing and skiing and the outdoors. He enjoyed spending his free time at his camp at Moosehead Lake, Maine. The son of the late Roland and Dorothy (McCarthy) Dutil, his family members include his children, David Dutil and his wife, Patrice Wharem of Stratham, NH, Dana Dutil of W. Newbury, MA, Douglas Dutil and his wife, Rhonda Haggan of Haverhill, MA and Teresa and her husband, Thomas Ferris, Jr of Methuen. He leaves his former wife, Janet Dutil and his grandchildren, Jay, Jillian, Thomas, Chris, Jamie, Craig and Serenity and his great grandchildren, Will, Madison, Daniel, Jonah and Micah.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday December 15, 2009 from 3 to 5 pm at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
