Avita (Centrella) Gaglione, died Saturday at home in the company of her loving family. She was 79.
Born in Monte Mileto, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Gerardo and the late Grace (D'Amelio) Centrella. After coming to the United States in 1966, she settled with her family in Medford and worked for many years in the clothing industry.
She was the beloved wife of Francesco Gaglione. She was a devoted mother to Sebastian Gaglione and his wife Porzia, of Salem, NH, Gerald Gaglione and his wife Deborah of Medford, Fulvio Gaglione and his wife Carolyn of Tewksbury, Rita Gordon and her husband Arthur of Middleton. She was a loving grandmother to Sebastian Jr., Rafaella, Nicole, Jerry, Samuel, Maxwell, Mia and Michael. She was the dear sister of Angela Barletta of Malden, Pasqualina Petrillo and Mario Centrella both of Medford, Nicola Centrella of Italy and the late Aquilino Centrella.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
