GOULET, Rita Yvonne, 88, of Manchester, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 12, 2009 surrounded by the love, comfort and care of her family at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home following a short illness. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Ronald L. Goulet, Sr., who died April 7, 1998.
Born in Manchester December 22, 1920, she was the oldest of 7 children born to the late Joseph A. & Yvonne (Gagnon) Proulx. She was raised and educated in Goffstown, but was a 1938 graduate of Manchester West High School.
She and Ronald were married February 24, 1940, and the two lived in Laconia and Hooksett before finally settling in Manchester, living on Ashland Street for many years. Although she was primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Goulet worked as a seamstress for White Stag, and also as a clerk at the former Triesman’s department store in Manchester for a time before retiring in the late 1970’s.
She was the devoted mother of Paul R. Goulet of Hooksett, Robert A. Goulet of St. Petersburg, FL, Norman U. Goulet of Manchester, and Anne I. Mikolaities of Rye. Dear sister of Irene Marchand of Manchester, and Robert Proulx of Pensacola, FL. She is also survived by 15 cherished grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren, and a large circle of extended family members and close friends. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her eldest son, Ronald L. Goulet, Jr. in 1975.
A prayer service was held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Interment followed at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
