Robert P. Danilowicz, 85, of Scituate died Friday, December 11, 2009, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Helen (Chrzanowski) Danilowicz. They were married for 59 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Paul and Mary (Kordalewski) Danilowicz, he lived in Scituate for 50 years.
He was a 1951 graduate of Providence College and received a Masters Degree in Education from Rhode Island College. Shortly there after he was selected to be the first general manager of WSBE-TV, Channel 36, which first aired in May of 1967 With his leadership, Channel 36 became Rhode Island’s first public television station. Mr. Danilowicz was a WWII Army veteran in the 45th Infantry. He enjoyed gardening, music, fishing and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Joan L. Rollins of Coventry, Donna M. Holden of Warwick, David R. Danilowicz of Foster and Paula H. Rostron of Killingly, CT, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Rev. Richard Danilowicz, OP
