Mrs. Maria A. (DeBellas) DiCicco, a resident of Medford for more than 10 years, formerly of Roslindale and beloved wife of the late Caesar A. “Charles” DiCicco, died at the Golden Life Center in Lexington on Wednesday evening, December 9, 2009. She was 94 years old.
Born in Vallimeio, Italy on December 13, 1914, she was the beloved daughter of the late Geraldo and Asuenta DeBellas.
Maria was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Medford for the past 10 years and had been a member of the Sacred Heart Society in Roslindale for many years. She was an avid gardener, growing vegetables and flowers at her home. She also enjoyed cooking and loved to crochet baby blankets for her beloved great-grandchildren. Above all, Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be sorely missed by her son and daughter-in-law; Joseph H. and his wife Valerie DiCicco of Medford, three stepdaughters; Cecilia Burdett of Florida, Mary Sefchuk of Taunton and Gloria Diblasi of Quincy, granddaughter; Jacqueline Wynn of Medford and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also the step-mother of the late Anne Wiggins, Carmella Spagnola and Charles DiCicco, grandmother of the late Charles “Buddy” Wiggins, David Wiggins and Hope Sheridan and step-mother-in-law of the late Frank Burdett, John Sefchuk, Joseph Spagnola and Richard Horton.
Her funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Monday, December 14, 2009 at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 10AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Visiting hours were Sunday, December 13, 2009, from 3 to 7 PM. Interment was in St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
