William J. Demsky, 93, of New Bedford died December 11, 2009 at New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Mary E. (Sullivan) Demsky with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in Stratford, CT, the son of the late William and Dorothy (Cane) Demsky he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Demsky was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He was formerly employed as an accountant with Rodney Metals for many years until retirement.
Mr. Demsky served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He later served in the Army Reserves.
He was a member and past treasurer of the New Bedford Jaycees.
Survivors include his wife; a sister-in-law, Katherine Sullivan of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Monday, December 14th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, December 13th from 2-4 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
