In Taunton, December 9, 2009 John P. Roy died suddenly at Morton Hospital in Taunton at the age of 43. Born in Taunton, John was the devoted and loving son of his mother Joan (Reilly) Roy and the late Wilfred Roy Jr. John Graduated from Taunton High School in 1984 then attended Bristol Community College and received his teaching degree from Suffolk University. John was a substitute teacher in Taunton from 2001-2003 then became a full time teacher at Freidman Middle School in Taunton from 2003 to present. John loved tutoring at the old E. Poole School for teenagers at the Silver City Teen Center. He was the past president and was presently the vice president of the Taunton Slow Pitch Softball League in Taunton. John was a Mason and a member of the First R.I. Battery B Civil War Reenactment Club. He loved Irish music, playing Texas Hold’em, Red Sox, Patriots and spending time with his family. He was the brother Deborah Roy of Taunton, Marie Nickerson of East Freetown, Cathy Machado of Taunton and the late Joan Nunes and Wilfred Roy III. Uncle of several Nieces and Nephews and great Nieces. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Sunday, December 13th from 3-6pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton on Monday at 10am. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
