GLOUCESTER: Florence May (Kimball) Russo, 81, died peacefully in the early morning hours on Monday, December 7, 2009. She was the wife of the late Frank W. Russo who died in 1965.
Born in Gloucester on March 8, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Richard M. Kimball and Carrie (Thompson) Hannibal. She grew up in Gloucester and attended Gloucester High School. She had resided in Beverly for several years before returning to Gloucester.
She once worked as a nurse’s aid before her retirement. May, as her friends called her, enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed time spent at PACE.
She is survived by her four children, Donna Lombardo and her husband, Peter of Saugus, Frank Russo of Peabody, Robert Russo and his wife, Lynda of Hamilton, and Garrison Russo of the Philippines; seven grandchildren, Lynn Shea, Stephen Sutherland, Peter Lombardo, Jr., Christina (Lombardo) Hildonen, Erin Russo, Laura Russo and Kyle Russo; four great-grandchildren, McKayla Catto, Camden and Palmer Sutherland, and Ethan Hildonen and her brother, Ralph Hannibal of Gloucester and several nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Weymouth Day.
Her funeral services will be privately held in the Beechbrook Cemetery, W. Gloucester at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours.
