
WAYLAND: Mary E. (Foley) Palmer, 97, died peacefully in the comfort of her family on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Wingate at Sudbury following a period of declining health.
She was born in Weymouth on January 14, 1912 the daughter of the late Patrick Henry Foley and Mary (McGaw) Foley.
Mrs. Palmer is survived by her two grandsons, Daniel P. Donovan of Uxbridge and Brian T. Donovan and his wife Lori of Wayland. She was the great-grandmother of Lily Rose Donovan and mother-in-law to John Donovan of Sudbury. She was the wife of the late Reuben T. Palmer who died in August 1983 and mother of the late Patricia (Palmer) Donovan who died in October of 2002.
She had been a resident of Wayland for the past 70 years and previously resided in Weymouth. She spent her formative years in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School. For many years, she was associated with the cafeteria program for the Town of Wayland at the Wayland High School and as a counter clerk for several years at Benson’s in Wayland. She was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Parish in Wayland. Mary was devoted to her family who will greatly miss her. She enjoyed being with children and cared for many of the neighborhood children in Wayland.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30), Wayland.
Family and friends are invited to her Graveside Services on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11:00 o’clock at the Palmer family lot in North Cemetery, Route 27, Wayland.
For those who desire, her family suggests memorial gifts in her memory may be sent to a charity of the donor’s choice to benefit children.
