
East Bridgewater – Doris M. (Collins) Parker 86, a resident of East Bridgewater for over forty years died Saturday December 5 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Arnold E. Parker.
Born and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Ethel (Gage) Collins.
Doris worked in the local shoe industry for many years, first at the US Shank Shop and Commonwealth Shoe both of Whitman and later retiring in 1988 from the Foot Joy Company in Brockton.
She was a member of the Women’ Club and the Senior Citizens both of East Bridgewater, and loved her cats and crocheting. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughters Joyce Brine of Rockland, and Virginia Casoli of Hanson, her sister Peachy Anderson of Whitman, her twin brother Joseph Collins of NH and her brother Stanley Collins of Norfolk, as well as 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edna Vallancourt.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday December 9 at 11 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the High Street Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM.
