Joseph V. Misserville, 86 years old of Lawrence, MA, died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.
He was born on February 1, 1923 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Anthony L. and Marie Ann (Schweitzer) Misserville. He was the seventh child out of 12 children. He attended Lawrence public schools. He worked for the City of Lawrence Public Parks & Property Department for many years until his retirement in 1986. He and his wife Hilda were avid lovers of The North America Drum & Bugle Corp and traveled through out the country following them from 1970's until the last championship he attended in July of 2009 held in Lawrence. Mr. Misserville enjoyed being with his family and looked foward to his weekly lunches and outings with his Sister Helen and sister-in-law Florence. He was an avid animal lover owning many dogs throughout his life. He loved to walk and could be seen walking through Methuen.
He is the husband of the late Hilda (Costa) Misserville, He leaves his sons: Paul V. Misserville and his wife Linda of Lawrence, MA and Joseph V. Misserville Jr. of Dracut, MA, his daughters: Ann Flanagan of Haverhill, MA & Linda Savastano of Methuen, MA. His sister Helen Towne of Andover, MA. and sister-in-law: Florence Costa of Lowell, MA. and as well as his grand children: Dennis Misserville and his fiance'e Angela Soares, Anthony M. Misserville, Paul Misserville II, William Misserville, Amy Smith, and great grand children: Scott and Steven Stanton and several nieces and nephews. Also his beloved Boxer dog Abbie.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at 11:00AM In St. Anthony Portugese Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell, MA. A burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
