NEW BEDFORD - Theresa (Avila) Lagasse, age 68 years, of Acushnet, died Wednesday evening December 2, 2009, at Hathaway Manor after an extended illness. She was the wife of Armand A. Lagasse Jr.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Joe and Izaura (Sylvia) Avila, she was a life long area resident.
An outstanding bingo player at St. Joseph's, she also cherished her family members.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Cliff of Ohio, Glenn of N.C., Allan of Acushnet, and Tim of New Bedford; daughters, Linda Fick and Brenda Lagasse of New Bedford and Tammy Lagasse of Fairhaven and the late Debra Ann Zupanic of Wy.; brothers, Joe, Robert, Raymond and Anthony Avila; sisters, Nancy Araujo, Delores Simmons and Rosie Queens; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, December 7, 2009, from 6-8 p.m., in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma. Her graveside service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., in Pine Grove Cemetery.
