Gabriel “Gabe” Silva, 89 a resident of Plympton for more than 13 years passed away on Wednesday December 2, 2009 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth after a period of failing health. He was born in Provincetown and was the youngest of 8 brothers and sisters, and the son of Manuall “Snowball”, and Emily Silva. Growing up in Provincetown, he was a commercial fisherman until World War II when he proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard in the Pacific theater. After the war he moved to Quincy Massachusetts and was a machinist at the Quincy Ship Yard where he worked alongside of his brothers until he retired in the early 1980’s, He married Doris Dox in 1957 and moved to Brockton. Gabe and Doris shared their lives together for 52 years. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father and a beloved grandfather. He will be missed by his son, Stephen Silva, Daughter in Law Debbie Silva, and his grandchildren Justin and Kristen Silva and well as nephews, nieces and friends. We have been blessed to have had him in our lives. Calling hours are Monday December 7 from 2pm to 6pm at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 373 Court Street, Plymouth MA 02360. The burial will be on Tuesday December 8, 2009 at 1 pm at the Provincetown Cemetery.
