Henry C. Champagne, 94, of Salisbury, MA, formerly of South Lawrence, passed away on Tuesday November 17, 2009 at the Mary Immaculate Nursing and Restorative Center in Lawrence.
Henry was born, raised and educated in Lawrence, MA. He was the son of Octave and Delia (Morin) Champagne. He worked for many years as a sheet metal worker at J.F. Bingham Co. prior to his retirement. Henry was deeply involved in his community. He was a 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus, Local 67, 4th Degree where he served as the Past Grand Knight, he was the Past President of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church, a 10 year member of the Alhambra of Lawrence, a 10 year member of the Richelieu Club of Lawrence, a 17 year member of the Lawrence Elks #65 and a member of the former Sacred Heart Church for 69years.
He leaves his loving wife of 69 years, Pauline (Corriveau) Champagne of Salisbury, his four children, Jeanne Scott of Derry, NH, Raymond Champagne and his wife Donna of Salisbury, Gloria Shine and her husband Walter of Merrimack, NH and Nancy MacLean and her husband William of Groveland, MA, a sister, Theresa Walsh of Billerica, MA and a brother, Andre Champagne and his wife Theresa of Methuen, MA, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Henry was predeceased by his siblings, Agnes Champagne, Leo Champagne and Gertrude Ouellette. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Paul Lemaitre of Andover for the special care he extended to Henry during this difficult time.
ARRANGEMENTS
Friends are invited to call from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday November 20th at the Arthur J. Scott Funeral Home, 298 South Broadway, Lawrence. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover. A private memorial mass will be held for Henry at a later date.
