Mrs. Marie D. MacCarthy, of Sandown, NH formerly of Wilmington passed away December 2nd at the Hanover Hill Health Care Center in Manchester, NH following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Leo M. MacCarthy. Born in Foggia, Italy she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Louisa (Crucina) Mastroprimano.
Mrs. MacCarthy was a graduate of the Feener Business School of Boston and also worked as a teacher's aid in Italy for a number of years. She loved the arts and especially enjoyed singing. She was a member of the St. Thomas Church Choir and was also a member the Sweet Adeline's Choral Group.
Mostly devoted to her family, Mrs. MacCarthy was a strong, determined and independent woman and had to pick up and move her family many times as a result of her husbands career in the military. She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
In addition to her late parents and husband, Mrs. MacCarthy is predeceased by her son, the late Dennis MacCarthy, and sister, the late Angelina Giardina. She is survived by her children,
Maureen Tenaglia and her husband Peter of Sandown, NH, and John MacCarthy and his wife Adrienne of Cohasset. She was the loving grandmother of Nicholas MacCarthy of Coventry, RI, Kristen MacCarthy of Newburgh, NY, Eric, Sean and Ryan MacCarthy all of Cohasset and is also survived by her great grandchild Elijah MacCarthy. She is further survived by her sister, Rose Nardella of Needham.
Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo - Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Friday, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s memory to SarahCare, 201 State Route 111, Hampstead, NH 03841.
