Darrel Gene “Pappy” Beck, 82, went to be with His Lord and Savior, Wednesday, December 2, 2009.
Born in Martwick, KY, he was the son of the late Henry T. and Lorena Beck. He had served in the U. S. Army, occupying Japan after WWII and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal-Japan. He was a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church and had retired from Ford Motor Co. He was a KY Colonel and a member of Miles Lodge 341 F and A.M. having served as the Grand Chaplain for the Grand Lodge of KY during 2001-2002.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Beck; granddaughter, Crystal Easterling; and a brother, Bobby Beck. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Clara Nadene Beck; beloved daughter, Alice Barnett (Roger); step-daughters, Rebecca Marshall (Doug) and Pat Easterling (John); grandchildren, Samantha and Taylor-Rae Marshall; great-grandchild, Tristan Salsbury; brother, Jimmy Beck (Charlotte); and sisters, Frieda Ross (Charles) and Betty Hawkins.
Funeral services will be 11 am Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial to follow in Bethany Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 pm Thursday. A Masonic service will be 7 pm Thursday.
