Mary E. Smith, 95, of Fairfield, CA died Monday November 23, 2009 at the Laurel Creek Health Center in Fairfield. Mrs. Smith was born in Kansas City, KS on August 13, 1914, daughter of the late A. Carl and Marion (Speck) Hedrick. She had resided in California since 1990, formerly living in Derry, NH for 40 years. She was a member of the D.A.R. and the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, both of Derry.
She is survived by her sons, Wayne Smith and his wife Bonnie of Rochester, NY, Dennis Smith and his partner Martin Fritz who live in the greater San Francisco, CA area, Owen Smith and his wife Liz of Highland Park, IL, six grandchildren, Aaron, Arthur, Andrew, Daryn, Neil and Rachel, and her great-granddaughter, Anna. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Paul Smith and his wife Ruth of Derry. She was predeceased by her husband, Myron Smith in 1973.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Monday December 7, 2009 at 10:30am at the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling arrangements.
