Obituary

Mary P. (Caulfield) MacLean, 95, of Marion died Wednesday November 25, 2009 at Tobey Hospital. She was the wife of the late Neil J. MacLean.

Born in Brookline, the daughter of the late William B. and Mary Frances (Sullivan) Caulfield, she lived in Baltimore and Brookline, before retiring to Marion, where she had summered for many years.

She was a communicant of St. Rita's Church, where she was a lector and a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society.

Mrs. MacLean was formerly employed as a registered nurse at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, as a stewardess for American Airlines, and as an emergency medical technician for the Town of Marion.

She was a founding member of the Marion Emergency Medical Services. She was a member of the Friends of Poland, Hearts and Hands, and the original Marion Garden Club. She was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River.

She was a graduate of Mount Auburn Hospital School of Nursing.

Survivors include six children, Susan Randall and her husband David of Louisville, KY, Deborah J. MacLean of Baltimore, Betsy Rego of Swansea, Peter T. MacLean of Mattapoisett, Jonathan C. MacLean and his wife Lisa of Marion, and Mark G. MacLean and his wife Mary M. of Quincy; four granddaughters, Stephanie, Jessica, Victoria, and Kathryn; and two great-granddaughters, Ava and Alexia.

She was the mother of the late Neil J. MacLean, Jr. and Julie A. MacLean, and sister of the late Helen, Kay, Joseph, William, and Leo Caulfield.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. Rita's Church, Marion. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 1-4 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett.
