Cecil Gray, 84, of the Holt Community in Irwin County, died Thursday, November 26 at the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Holt Baptist Church with the Rev. Clayton Dowd and Elder Jerry Barrs officiating. Interment will follow in Holt Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Gray was born March 12, 1925 in Irwin County to the late John W. and Annie Purvis Gray. He lived in Irwin County all of his life. Mr. Gray was a farmer, a former employee of Steven’s Mill in Tifton and the Poultry Processing Plant in Douglas. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Linda) Gray of Hortense, John C. (Carolyn) Gray of Inverness, FL and Roger (Myra) Gray of Mystic; sisters, Daphine Spratlin of Wray, Jeannette Luna of Topeka, KS and Sarah (Delmar) McCall of Brunswick; special friend, Leatrice Whitley of Ocilla as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
