BALLARD, MABEL TYLER, 95, of Louisville, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009.
She was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church, and was Kentucky’s oldest twin. Her twin sister, Hazel Ferguson, resides with her husband in Fairfield, Ky.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Fulton Tyler, her son, Phillip Tyler, and three grandchildren.
She was the beloved mother of eight surviving children, Doris Hampton, Doug Tyler (Dottie), George Tyler (Janice), Roger Tyler (Sallie), Susan Lockhart (Jeff), Willie Tyler (Brenda), Marian Kaufman (Art) who lovingly cared for her, and Mark Tyler (Elizabeth); 23 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren, all of whom called her GrandMommy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered by many friends who knew her as an open hearted, generous, fun-loving “recycled teenager”, who loved life, her family, and her church “family”.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home – Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road with burial in Chenoweth Run Cemetery on Billtown Road.
Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 - 11 a.m. Friday.
