Lawrence "Larry" Lumia

Beloved and Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend

TEWKSBURY: Lawrence "Larry" Lumia, beloved husband of Trudy (Boyan) Lumia, with whom he celebrated 42 years of marriage, passed away on November 24, 2009 after a courageous 2 year battle with bladder cancer, surrounded by his devoted and loving family.
He was the youngest son of the late James and Beatrice (Cardarelli) Lumia and brother of the late James Lumia.

Larry was born in East Boston on January 2, 1944. He attended schools in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School in 1961. He was a great athlete, captain of the EBHS Basketball Team, and a baseball player known as "Yogi". After high school he continued to play softball for many years and then went on to league bowling.
He coached in the Tewksbury Little League and Tewksbury Youth Hockey League for many years.
He was an avid Patriots fan and loved the Red Sox and Celtics.

Larry spent 35 years working in the printing business including his own business, L&L Printers in Tewksbury. At age 54, he started a new career working for the United States Postal Service. Due to his illness, he sadly retired in June 2009 from the Tewksbury Post Office, where he spent many happy days with his co-workers and postal customers.

When he wasn't working, Dad never missed a baseball, basketball, football, hockey game, cheerleading competition or dance recital in which any one of his children were participating. He enjoyed music, dancing, singing, cooking, camping with his family in New Hampshire, and going to the racetrack. He also enjoyed numerous cruises to Bermuda with his wife, family and friends.

Besides his wife Trudy, he leaves behind his four children, Dawn and Ken Monahan of Billerica, Larry and Kristen (Hollis) Lumia of Tewksbury, Michael and Tammy (Baker) Lumia of Dracut and Tina and Brian Kierce of Tewksbury. He was the proud Papa to his cherished eight grandchildren; Megan Rochette, Patrick and Ryan Monahan, Daniel, James and Molly Kierce, Matthew Lumia and Lila Lumia. He was the brother-in-law of Bob and Cathy Boyan, John Boyan and Judi Clermont, Mary Kennedy, Tom Boyan and Carol Hallahan. He leaves many nephews and nieces including Maryanne Kennedy, devoted and dedicated goddaughter and niece. He was also a father figure to his niece Colleen (Kennedy) Daniel. He will be sadly missed by his best buddy Tony Casarano.
All who love him will miss the beautiful twinkle in his eyes and his great sense of humor.
