Gary A. Dionne, 63, of Derry, NH died Monday November 23, 2009 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Gary was born on September 28, 1946, son of Beverly (Barrows) Dionne and the late Raoul Dionne. He had resided in Derry since 1999, formerly of Methuen, MA. Gary received his Masters in Education from Fitchburg State College, Fitchburg, MA. He was employed as a special education teacher for the Methuen, MA School System where he taught for more than 20 years. Gary also worked at the Psychological Center in Lawrence, MA where he ran a drug and alcohol program. Gary enjoyed the arts, attending plays and performances. He especially liked time spent camping at Old Orchard Beach, ME.
He is survived by his son, Shawn Dionne and his wife Kathryn of Orange, MA, two daughters, Nicole Michalczyk and her husband Robert of Ashburnham, MA and Casey Lowe of Derry, five grandchildren, Chris, Cory, Katelyn, Kayley and Autumn, one brother, Vance Dionne of Port Orange, FL, his mother, Beverly Downs of Port Orange, FL, his loving friend, Helen Matte of Dracut, MA, his former wife, Jean Danforth of Shirley, MA, also nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his second wife, Susan M. Lowe-Dionne in 2006 and by his stepdaughter, Vikki H. Lowe in 2007.
Calling hours were held Monday November 30, 2009 from 4 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday December 1st at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry.
