Dorris Lynn Cain, 83, died Sunday, November 22, 2009, at his residence in Batesville, MS. He was born September 19, 1926 in Yalobusha County to Doyle L. and Sallie Potts Cain. He worked many years at Holley Carburetor as a machine operator in Water Valley. Mr. Cain was a Deacon at the Sardis Lake Baptist Church in Sardis, MS.
Visitation will be held at Sardis Lake Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Sardis Lake Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin A. Crofford and Bro. Charles Keel presiding. Burial will be at Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Calhoun County with Rick McCarty, Jimmy McCloud, Dalton Martin, Jake Sanders, Dale Scanlan, and Adrian Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Kevin Horne and William Turner. Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley, MS is in charge of services.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Ruth Hollowell and one brother, Norris Cain.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Harmon and her husband, Bill of Batesville, MS; two sons, Jimmy Pratt and his wife Patricia of Water Valley, MS, Michael Pratt and his wife Liz of Banner, MS; a sister, Margaret Gean of Water Valley, MS; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and three step-great-great grandchildren.
