Obituary

DUDLEY - Peter T. “Pete” Labby, 87, died Sunday, November 22, in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester surrounded by his family.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Theresa A. (Bonczek) Labby; 4 children, Dorothy J. Reardon and her husband John L. of Orlando, FL, Cynthia L. Cioffi and her husband Alfred of Whitinsville, Peter T. Labby and his wife Kirstin A. of North Grosvenordale, CT and Elaine A. Nepini and her husband Michael R. of Woonsocket, RI; 8 grandchildren, Shaune, Timothy, Rebecca, Nicholas, Peter, Christopher, Jeffrey and Mikaela; a great granddaughter, Amanda; a brother, Wilfred Labby of Dudley; a sister, Lora Webb of Huntington Beach, CA; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Helen Dlugosz and Adaline Vigeant, and by a brother, Victor Labby.

He was born and raised in North Grosvenordale, CT, a son of Peter “Pierre” and Loretta (Richard) Labby. He moved to Dudley at the time of his marriage in 1948.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving the South Pacific. He earned a bronze star for meritorious combat.

Mr. Labby was a mechanic at the Garvais Garage in North Grosvenordale for 50 years until 1987. He was a member of the infield crew at Thompson Speedway for over 60 years, and was active until August. In his retirement he worked at auto auctions and was also employed by Service Network, Inc. in Worcester.

He was a member of Saint Andrew Bobola Church, the Webster-Dudley American Legion Post #184 and the CT Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #10088. He enjoyed activities at the lake and gardening.

The funeral will be held Friday, November 27, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will perform the military honors at the cemetery. A calling period will be from 8:30 to l0:00 AM Friday, Nov. 27, in the funeral home.
