GOLDBERG, Alan B. Of Brookline, passed away in peace at home surrounded by his family November 20, 2009. Devoted and beloved husband of Barbara Beurman Goldberg for 56 years. Loving father of Arthur Goldberg and his wife Meira, Marcia Goldberg and her husband Alan Grossman, Bennett Goldberg and his wife Lisa Hirschhorn, and Anne Goldberg. Loving grandfather of Michael, Ellen, Ruby and Amelia Goldberg and Benjamin Grossman. Brother of the late Betty Goldberg Loewenberg. Son of Max Goldberg and Maude (Sawyer) Goldberg, he was born in 1924 in Salem, MA. Alan attended Andover and Harvard. He served his country as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1944 and 1945, navigating 35 missions. He founded and ran Styroformics Inc, from 1955 to 1990. Funeral service Monday Nov. 23 at 10:30 AM at Temple Sinai, 50 Sewall Avenue, Brookline. The family will sit shiva at Alan's home through Wednesday, Nov. 25. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the New England Organ Bank, the Mass. Audubon Society or the Brookline Senior Center.
