Gerard J. Courtemanche, 88, formerly of Cranston St., Woonsocket, died Saturday at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Helen (Kendizierski) Courtemanche.
Born in Canada, he was a son of the late Joseph and Alice (Bergeron) Courtemanche. He came to the United States at a young age and remained a lifelong resident of Woonsocket.
Mr. Courtemanche served in the Army during WWII in the European Theater.
Following his service, Mr. Courtemanche worked at Quonset Point as a chemist for over 20 years and then at Leach & Gardener in Attleboro until his retirement.
He is survived by a sister, Therese Lemoine of East Windsor, CT., and many nieces and nephews and their families. He was the brother of the late Jean-Paul, Jude, Sr. Mary Jude P.M., Marie-Ange, and Gabrielle Courtemanche, Annette Rippett, and Cecile Descheneux.
His funeral will be Tuesday at 8:30 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Martyr’s Church, Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday morning from 8:30 -9:30 am prior to Mass. Memorial donations may be made to Mt.
