Devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother
TEWKSBURY: Bernadette J. (Picard) Shepard, age 87, a resident of Tewksbury for over 40 years, died Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. She was the widow of William J. Shepard who died April 20, 1993.
Born in Lowell on April 17, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Chrisologue and Emma (Deschene) Picard. Mrs. Shepard was raised in Lowell and graduated from the former St. Louis Academy of Lowell.
Prior to moving to Tewksbury in 1962, she and her family resided in Billerica. Mrs. Shepard was a communicant of St. William’s Parish in Tewksbury.
She enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by 1 daughter; Judith A. McCarthy and her husband David of Plymouth, 4 sons; Richard A. Shepard and his wife Rose (Leduc) of Attleboro, Charles A. Shepard of Tewksbury, William J. Shepard, Jr. and his wife Margaret (McLaughlin) of Lowell and Stephen E. Shepard and his wife Patricia (McKinnon) of Tewksbury; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Shepard was the mother of the late Lorraine Rocha and sister of the late Laura Turcotte, Cecile Daigle and Leona Picard.
Calling hours Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Burial at Tewksbury Cemetery.
