Gertrude K.Devine, 72, of Pound Road in Chepachet, a retired medical transcriptionist for Northwest Community Nurses before retiring in 2002, died Friday, November 20, 2009 at Cortland Place. She was the widow of John P. Devine, who died in May.
Born in Bayreuth, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Fritz and Johanna Walther. She had lived in Chepachet for over 50 years.
She was a longtime member of the Harmony Library Book Club.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Devine of Clearwater, Florida and Douglas Devine of Glocester, five grandchildren, a brother, Fritz Walther of Hof, Germany and a sister, Anne Widman, of Munich, Germany.
Her funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday at 11:30am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation Monday 10:30-11:30am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glocester Food Pantry, PO Box B, Chepachet, RI 02814.
