Obituary

BEVERLY: Gerard “Gerry” LeClerc, 75, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following an extended illness. He was the devoted husband of Joanne (Pasquarello) LeClerc.
Born in Salem on March 3, 1934, he was the son of the late Hormidas and Florina (St. Pierre) LeClerc. A lifelong resident of Beverly he was a graduate of Beverly High School, where he was a member of the football and track teams. Following graduation he served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War.
Gerry was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Beverly for over thirty years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Vittori-Rocci Post in Beverly and the Beverly Football Boosters Club. He was also a former member of the St. Margaret’s Church Choir. He enjoyed taking cruises and loved to spend time with his family sailing at Middle Branch Pond in Maine. Gerry was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, he is survived by two sons, Michael LeClerc of Lynn and Lawrence LeClerc of Plymouth; two daughters, Constance and her husband, Phillip Durgin of Wenham and Lisa and her husband, Brian Lambert of Amherst, NH; six grandchildren, Paul and Daniel LeClerc, Joanna and Phillip Durgin, Jr. and Amy and Elise Lambert; two sisters, Ruth Modugno of San Diego, CA and Rita Brooks of Manchester-by-the-Sea; a brother, René and his wife, Florence LeClerc of Beverly; a former daughter-in-law, Cheryl LeClerc of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Constant, William, Raymond and Leo LeClerc; two sisters, Theresa Giusti and Lauretta Camden; and a niece and godchild, Amy Brooks.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in St. Paul’s Church, 50 Union St., Hamilton at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Zachary Mauro Crawford Fund at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Ave., 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226 or to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, c/o Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be privately held in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
