John A. Hurley, 73, of Whitman, died, Wednesday November 18th, surrounded by his loving family at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.
He was born in New York, son of the late John and Mary (Frawley) Hurley. He is the widower of Ruth F. (DeCoste) Hurley, his wife of 39 years.
John was a graduate of Mission High School of Roxbury, MA and also a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. John worked for both Bradlees Corporation and Ocean Spray
He is survived by his four sons, James F. of Whitman, Steven J. and his wife Cheryl of Kingston, Matthew J. and his wife Stefanie of Kingston and John (Jack ) A. and his wife Kathleen of Whitman, and also his daughter Jennifer (Hurley) Generazo and her husband Michael of Kingston. John is also survived by his sister Veronica Hurley of Derry, NH and pre-deceased by his siblings, Mary, Catherine and Michael Hurley.
John was also the very proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren, Meaghan, Ryan, Colin, Alexandra, Jacqueline, Christine, Nicole, Samantha, John, Jake and Mikey.
His services will be held on Tuesday November 24th at 8:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Interment will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
