Eleanor A. (Conley) Hatchfield, 86 years of Brockton and West Dennis died Wednesday November 18, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Chester J. Hatchfield. She was born in North Attleboro, a daughter of the late James and Blanche (Carey) Conley, whose family owned the former Brown’s Store in Attleboro. She was a graduate of Attleboro High School and also attended Boston University. Eleanor was a co-manager with her late brother Robert F. Conley in their summer store in Hyannis and later she managed a store in Darlington, RI until her marriage to her husband Chester J. Hatchfield of Whitman.
During WWII she was a volunteer nurse’s aide at Sturdy Memorial Hospital and Camp Myles Standish. Later she worked for Doctors John Tondery and Elliott Korim as a medical biller until her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a member of the Twentieth Century Catholic Club. She enjoyed gardening, walking, vacationing on the Cape and spending time with her family.
She is survived by a son, Thomas R. Hatchfield, two daughters, Mary E. Hatchfield and Jane A. Donohue and her husband Paul J. all of Brockton, her grandchildren, Andrew, Stephen, James and Daniel Hatchfield and Joseph Donohue and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Robert F. Conley.
