Wilfred J. Gaudet, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Ouimette) Gaudet, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.
Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada on May 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Thomas and Josephine (Bernard) Gaudet. He was raised and educated there and came to the United States as a young man in 1958.
Willy was employed for many years as a mechanic with Ideal Transmission in Salem and with several other area mechanics.
A communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. Known as a great storyteller, Willy loved music and playing guitar. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his children, Denise Moore and her husband Scott of Danvers, Diane Quintal and her husband Brian of Peabody, Jeanette Dakessian of Danvers, David Gaudet of NH, and Robert Gaudet and his wife Monica of Peabody, his siblings, Mildred Gaudette, Catherine Densmore, and Leo, Russell, Nelson, and Richard Gaudet, and nine grandchildren, Sean Murray, Tyler and Kelsie Dakessian, Justin and Derek Moore, and Michael, Gus, Amanda, and Kellie Gaudet. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward Gaudet.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
