Mrs. Lorraine M. (MacKinnon) Hannigan, of Taunton and Pocasset, died Tuesday, November 17, at the home of her daughter, Jayne, in Wareham of complications from a recent stroke. She was the wife of the late Raymond M. Hannigan. She was born 80 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Malcolm D. and Delphine A. (Berube) MacKinnon. She was educated in Taunton, having graduated from Taunton High School, and was a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a
waitress at the Raynham-Taunton Dog Track for 30 years. With her late parents, Mrs. Hannigan had previously owned and operated her family’s restaurant, Del-Mac’s Restaurant in Taunton for many years. She was a member and Past President of the Junior
Womens Club in Taunton. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Patrick’s Church in Wareham where she participated in many clothing drives and was involved in the care and feeding of the needy. Mrs. Hannigan enjoyed her summers in Pocasset, spending time with her
many friends at the Chart Room. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton and attended St. John the Evangelist Church in Pocasset.
She leaves:
2 daughters: Judith Caras and her husband, George of Taunton
Jayne Carboni and her husband, Richard of Wareham
1 sister: Barbara Barreiros of Wareham
3 grandchildren: Krista, Marc and Jeffrey
4 great grandchildren: Waverly, Kadison, Garison, and Willow
several nieces and nephews
Mrs. Hannigan was also the sister of the late John MacKinnon of Taunton.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Saturday, November 21 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
