Obituary

Shirley M. (Vincent) Battistelli, 74, of Mattapoisett, died November 12, 2009 at home.
She was the wife of the late Joseph Leo Battistelli.
Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late Manuel J. and Ethel S. (Harrington) Vincent, she lived in Mattapoisett most of her life.
She and her husband were the proprietors of Cape Way Sports Center in Mattapoisett and later worked for Execu-Maid Inc. where she was instrumental in the initial setup of the company and managed it for several years. In 1990, she held several positions at the company as it grew including payroll clerk, residential estimator and Quick Books accounts receivable/ payable specialist. She retired only a few years ago from the company but still came back a few weeks a year to cover various vacations for employees there. She enjoyed staying busy, spending time with all seven of her grandchildren and three daughters every week. Shirley had also been an avid antique dealer, buying and selling antiques for a short period of time, sharing this interest with her daughter, Linda.
Mrs. Battistelli was active with the Mattapoisett Senior Center. She enjoyed bingo at Bishop Stang, St. Anthony's in New Bedford, St. Mary's School in New Bedford and St. Michael's School in Fall River with her daughter Brenda Budlong and her son-in-law, Tim. She also enjoyed bowling and was on a summer and winter bowling league for over 30 years at Wonder Bowl in New Bedford.
Survivors include her 3 daughters; Donna Battistelli, Linda Camara and Brenda Budlong and her husband Timothy all of Mattapoisett; 3 brothers, Richard Vincent of San Leandro, CA, Phillip Vincent of Sand Springs, OK and Robert Vincent of Wareham; 7 grandchildren including Victoria Souza Medeiros and her husband Jeffrey of Somerset, Justin Souza, Alex Berry, Kyler Berry and Corrine Camara, all of Mattapoisett, Jennel Camara of Maine and Joseph Camara of Florida; a great-grandchild, Trenton Camara of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late James Vincent, Kenneth Vincent, Milton Vincent, Manuel Joseph Vincent and Bertha Peirce.
Her family will receive guests on Saturday, November 21st from 11 AM - 1 PM followed by her Memorial Service at 1 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The Shirley Angel Foundation (which has been established by her granddaughter Victoria Souza Medeiros), 106 West Hill Ave., Somerset, MA 02726.
